旨依議欽遵在案今琉球国王尚敬傾心向化既称再

皇上文教益広等語応如所請准其官生等赴京入監
　読書応行事宜到日再議具題可也於康煕五十九
　年八月初三日題本月初五日奉

現代語訳

奏上して言うには「臣等は琉球国王の冊封の礼を終え、宴において王と語り、通事に詞を述べさせて云うには『本国は海外の僻地に処し、荒陋が風となっております。康熙二十五年に旨を奉じて官生阮維新等三人を遣わして入学読書させました。今やっと文教を略知するに至りましたが、それ以来三十年間、上請する術がございませんでした。幸いにも天が使臣を国に遣わされましたので、前使汪楫が代請した入学読書の旧例に照らして求め、遠人の向化の意を陳明いたします。もし再び官生を遣わして入学読書させることができれば、皇上の文教がますます広まることでしょう』」等の理由で具奏して部に到着しました。

康熙二十三年に琉球国王の冊封に差し遣わされた使臣翰林院検討汪楫等が、該国王尚貞の請うところの陪臣の子弟を京に赴かせて監に入れて読書させる等の言葉を転奏して部に到着したことを查すると、臣部はその請うところに照らして議覆し具題して旨を奉じ、議に依って欽遵することが案にございます。

今、琉球国王尚敬は傾心して向化し、既に再び請うて官生を入学読書させれば皇上の文教がますます広まる等の語を称しており、請うところの如く、その官生等の京に赴いて監に入り読書することを准許し、応行の事宜は到日に再議して具題するのがよろしいでしょう。

康熙五十九年八月初三日に題し、本月初五日に旨を奉じて議に依るとのことでした。

英語訳

The memorial states: "We ministers completed the investiture ceremonies for the King of Ryukyu, and during the banquet, in conversation with the king, we had the interpreter convey these words: 'Our country is situated in a remote place beyond the seas, where crude customs have become the norm. In the twenty-fifth year of Kangxi, we received the imperial edict to send three official students including Ruan Weixin to enter school for study. Now we have come to understand literary education somewhat, but since then, for thirty years, we have had no means to petition above. Fortunately, Heaven has sent envoys to our country, so we request to follow the precedent of former envoy Wang Ji's petition for entering school for study, to clearly express the intention of distant peoples aspiring to civilization. If we could again send official students to enter school for study, then His Majesty's literary education would spread even more widely.'" These were the reasons for the detailed memorial that arrived at the Ministry.

Upon investigation, in the twenty-third year of Kangxi, the envoy sent to invest the King of Ryukyu, Hanlin Academy Reviewer Wang Ji and others, forwarded a memorial to the Ministry regarding King Shō Tei's request to send sons of court ministers to the capital to enter the Imperial Academy for study. Our Ministry, in accordance with this request, deliberated and submitted a detailed proposal, received the imperial edict, and respectfully complied according to the decision, as recorded in our files.

Now, King Shō Kei of Ryukyu has wholeheartedly embraced civilization and has already stated his renewed request that if official students enter school for study, His Majesty's literary education would spread even more widely. In accordance with his request, we should approve these official students' journey to the capital to enter the Imperial Academy for study. The appropriate procedures should be deliberated again and submitted in a detailed proposal when the time comes.

This was submitted on the third day of the eighth month of the fifty-ninth year of Kangxi, and on the fifth day of this month, we received the imperial edict to proceed according to the deliberation.
