差上申一札之事
一 当村石切之儀村中不残取調書上仕候処此外壱人
も無御座候尤石切稼ニ罷出旅先ニ而石切弟子召抱
不申候猶又商売先実躰ニ相廻り可申候様具ニ申
聞候処一々承知仕奉得其意候若此上ニも不吟味
成儀有之候而後日ニ被成御聞及候ハヽ其元より
早速御注進可被成候其上如何様之御咎
筋被 仰付候共少も御恨無御座候為後
日連印一札仍而如件

現代語訳
差し上げ申し上げる一札の件
一、当村の石切について、村中残らず取り調べて書き上げいたしましたところ、この他の者もございません。もっとも石切稼業に出かけて行き、旅先で石切の弟子を召し抱えることはいたしません。なお、商売先の実体についてもよく回って確認するように詳しく申し聞かせましたところ、一つ一つ承知いたし、その意を得ております。もしこの上にも不注意なことがあって、後日にお聞き及びになりましたならば、その時は早速ご注進いたします。その上でどのようなお咎めを仰せ付けられましても、少しも恨みはございません。後日のため連印の一札、よってこの通りです。

A Written Pledge Respectfully Submitted
Item: Regarding the stonecutters in our village, we have investigated all without exception and submitted this report. There are no others besides these. Furthermore, when going out to work as stonecutters, they shall not take on stonecutter apprentices while traveling. Moreover, we have thoroughly instructed them to carefully investigate the actual conditions of their business destinations, and they have acknowledged and understood each point. Should there be any negligence beyond this point that comes to your attention later, we will immediately report it to you. Furthermore, no matter what punishment you may impose upon us, we harbor no resentment whatsoever. This jointly signed pledge is for future reference.
