Looking inside, the stone was hollow and contained about five gō of water. From within, an ayu (sweetfish) of about three sun in length jumped out and died. Also, according to a story told by Master Tsushima of Kyoto, around the Kan'ei era, when building a mountain temple in the eastern provinces, there was a large stone that hindered the construction work, so several stonemasons cut it down into a valley. The stone was hollow inside, and water poured out - about two or three koku. The stonemasons were greatly astonished and puzzled when a fish of about three shaku leaped out from within and jumped into the valley stream, disappearing from sight. Now half of that stone remains behind the temple hall, and half is in the valley stream below. The hollow inside the stone can accommodate three people.
