鏃石とともにある。奥州南部、出羽の羽黒山、越後馬正面村東、美濃客見野、飛騨国高原等に雷斧が多い。その外の国々にも稀にあると見える。細小なものは三五分、巨大なものは尺余り。欠けや肥（厚み）があり、磨き肌もある。諸方で石を愛好する家ごとに、雷斧、雷刀、雷鎚、雷碪、雷環、雷珠、雷鑽、雷揳、雷墨、雷剣等がある。根元は一つの物であり、それぞれ形容によって名を呼ぶのであろう。予は数百種を蓄え、色、形、大小、産所等は一様でない。考察するに、雷によるものではない。思うに、上古の兵具であろうか。口伝では
