現代語訳
江岩車という所で安永二年四月にこれを得た。
形は大工の持つ鉋と異なることなく、大きさもまた然り。色は黒赤く光って玉のようで、甚だ奇品にして美物である。その後、同国の甲という所からも得た。これもまた同じ物である。
色は黄赤く輝いて玉のようである。両所とも里俗では狐の鉋という。按ずるに神代の古物であろう。他所にある事を聞かず、他の同好の人が蔵する事もまた聞かない。
能登国岩車山中に穿ち得たり。色黒赤くして光あり。
英語訳
I obtained this at a place called Eganokuruma in the fourth month of An'ei 2 (1773).
The shape is no different from a plane held by carpenters, and the size is likewise the same. The color is blackish-red and lustrous like a jewel, making it an extremely rare and beautiful object. Later, I also obtained one from a place called Kō in the same province. This too is the same type of object.
The color is yellowish-red and gleaming like a jewel. In both places, the local people call them "fox planes." Upon consideration, they are likely ancient objects from the age of gods. I have not heard of them existing elsewhere, nor have I heard of other collectors of similar interests possessing them.
Found by excavating in the mountains of Ganokuruma in Noto Province. Color is blackish-red with luster.
