現代語訳
の近江熊石という所の山中より掘り出したという。予が考えるに、本草綱目の蔵器に曰く「雷震の後に得る者は、形が青黒の斑文ではなく、至って硬く玉のようである。或いは言うには、これは人間が石で造って天曹に納めたものであり、事実を知らない」と。この説はもっともらしいのではないか。形は図の通りである。
安永七年戌の九月、松前と蝦夷の境界の熊石という所にて掘り出す。形は図の通りで、厚さ一寸である。
熊石 この所に雷社という祠がある。神代の奇石を掘り出してはこの祠に納める。

from the mountains of a place called Kumaishi in Kinko. In my opinion, according to the Zangqi section of the Bencao Gangmu: "Those obtained after thunder and lightning are not of blue-black mottled pattern in form, but are extremely hard like jade. Some say these are stone objects made by humans and offered to the heavenly court, not knowing the facts." This theory seems quite plausible. The form is as shown in the illustration.
In the ninth month of An'ei 7 (1778), year of the Dog, excavated at a place called Kumaishi on the border between Matsumae and Ezo. The form is as shown in the illustration, with a thickness of one sun (about 3 cm).
Kumaishi: At this place there is a shrine called Raisha (Thunder Shrine). When divine age strange stones are excavated, they are enshrined in this shrine.
