Izumo-no-kami Minamoto no Kashige was a resident of Mino Province and the adopted son of Gorohachi Nagachika Nyudo Sogen《margin note: Kashige's father's name is unclear}}. The nyudo (Buddhist monk) initially served Oda-dono and distinguished himself with numerous military achievements in various battles. In Tensho 3 (1575), August, he was finally appointed as a general of one division and, together with Hara Hikoshiro, marched to Echizen Province. He crossed over Tokuyama from Gujo District in Mino, entered Ono District, captured several castles, killed many enemies, and as allied forces from all directions simultaneously entered the province in disorder, he completely pacified the rebels.
