【Right page】 rushed back. It was heard that the Kamigata forces had pacified Ise Province and were advancing toward Ise. Since Kōzuke was completely unreliable and precarious as a fortress, and seemed unlikely to hold out even for a day, he abandoned his own castle and entered Tomita's Anotsu Castle, fortifying the eastern side of the castle. Thus, tens of thousands of mounted attackers invaded Ise Province and pressed their attack on Tomita's castle. Masatoshi led his men out from the castle and fought fiercely. He himself took up a spear and struck down countless enemies. Though wounded in many places, he sat on a camp stool waiting to grapple with a worthy opponent and die in battle. Tomita's retainers came and gave him various admonitions, helping him return to within the castle. Meanwhile, the large army of attackers pressed forward, surrounding the castle on all four sides and attacking in waves, so that many allies 【Left page】 were killed and enemies broke through in various places. At this point, the monk Mokujiki from Mount Kōya arrived, restrained both enemies and allies, stopped the fighting, and mediated in various ways, so Tomita abandoned the castle. Masatoshi likewise departed from there. After the Battle of Sekigahara ended, rewards were distributed and his domain was doubled 《marginal note: 20,000 koku》. Since Masatoshi had only daughters and no sons, he adopted his grandson to continue the family line. This was Sakyō-no-suke Mitsunobu 《marginal note: The year and month of Masatoshi's death is still unknown ○ According to the Ise Gunki, Mitsunobu was the son of Masatoshi's son-in-law, Nagano Jiuemon. This Jiuemon was originally from Owari Province and served Kōzuke-no-suke Nobukane from childhood, being called Saitō Jisuke. When Nobukane inherited the Nagano house, he was granted that surname and thus took the name Nagano》. Mitsunobu served in the Osaka campaigns and presented fifty severed heads. During Mitsunobu's time, he was granted land at Ōmizo in Ōmi Province and moved there 《marginal note: The year and month of Mitsunobu's death is still unknown. Also, the exact year and month of the move to the domain is unclear. According to one theory, he was moved in Keichō 10》. His son, Iga-no-kami Yoshiharu, following his father,
