越前守源秀久は、初めは権兵衛尉と称した。豊臣太閤がまだ羽柴越前守と名乗って播磨国を領していた時、天正九年の冬、織田信長の命を受けて淡路国を攻撃した。安宅河内守が降参したので、改めてその国に守護を置く必要もなかった。同じく十年の夏、信長が亡くなり、秀吉が天下の政務を取り仕切るようになると、淡路国須本の城を秀久に与えた。これは長年の武功を賞されたものである。同十三年の夏、四国征伐が行われた際、秀久は先陣を務めて讃岐の八島の城を攻め落とした。その恩賞として

When Toyotomi Taikō was still known as Hashiba Echizen-no-kami and ruled Harima Province, in the winter of Tenshō 9, he received orders from Oda-dono to attack Awaji Province. Atagi Kawachi-no-kami surrendered, so there was no need to newly appoint a guardian for that province. In the summer of the same tenth year, Nobunaga passed away, and when Hideyoshi came to control the affairs of the realm, he granted Hidehisa Sumoto Castle in Awaji Province.
