只なきがごとくになり下り降人となりて敵の足下に平伏たる者のごとく

なからん誰かかほどの邪なる望みの怨敵を責めふするがらさの御精力を

§二 右の条々に付て不審をなす者に答への事
◦汝じよぶの経十六に見えたるごとく善人の上にも隠れたるかたすみはその
汚れ残る事ありと汝いふべし此答をよくきけ同く＊じよふのこと葉に
それ即なきがごとしと見えたり爰を以て残るといへる処は全く災の為に非ず
善を起す便りとなり非道の為に非ず只冠を戴く基となり悪逆の種と
なるべき為に非ず又倒れの為にも非ず却て運を開かせ給はん為也所詮
残りたる汚れは身の危き事を省み謙りを懐き ds のがらさ天の快楽
の御誉となるべき為なれば其徳多く深き者也喩ば獣なれども人に
なつき仕ふるを以て其益あるがごとく邪なる望みをよく治め得るにをひては
善を求むるに大なる便りとなる者也
然に ds の御手を以てかゝへ給ふ人を誰ありてか推倒す事叶ふべきや

現代語訳
ただ無きが如くになり下り、降人となりて敵の足下に平伏したる者の如くなるべし。その故は我汝等が主なる神なり。汝が手を取りて言うべし、恐るることなかれ、我が力を添えべしとイザヤ四十一章に見えたり。誰かこれを聞いて勇ましき心なからん。誰かかほどの邪なる望みの怨敵を責め伏するからくさ（恩寵）の御精力を見奉りて力を落とす心あらんや。
第二節 右の条々について不審をなす者に答える事
○汝ヨブ記十六章に見えたる如く、善人の上にも隠れたる片隅にはその汚れ残る事ありと汝言うべし。この答えをよく聞け。同じくヨブの言葉に「それ即ち無きが如し」と見えたり。ここをもって残ると言える処は全く災いの為に非ず、善を起こす便りとなり、非道の為に非ず、ただ冠を戴く基となり、悪逆の種となるべき為に非ず、また倒れの為にも非ず、却って運を開かせ給わん為なり。所詮残りたる汚れは身の危き事を省み、謙りを懐き、神の恩寵、天の快楽の御誉となるべき為なれば、その徳多く深き者なり。
喩えば獣なれども人に懐き仕うるをもってその益あるが如く、邪なる望みをよく治め得るにおいては善を求むるに大なる便りとなる者なり。

They shall become as nothing and fall down, becoming like surrenderers prostrating themselves at the feet of their enemies. The reason is that I am the Lord your God. Taking your hand, I shall say: "Fear not, I will add my strength to you," as seen in Isaiah 41. Who could hear this and not have a courageous heart? Who could see such gracious divine power that conquers the enemies of evil desires and lose heart?
Section 2: Answering those who raise doubts about the above matters
○You might say that as seen in Job 16, even upon good people there remain some stains hidden in corners. Listen well to this answer. In the same words of Job it appears "it is as if nothing." Therefore, what remains is not at all for the sake of disaster, but becomes a means to raise up good; not for wrongdoing, but merely as a foundation for wearing a crown; not to become a seed of evil rebellion, nor for falling, but rather to open up fortune. In essence, the remaining stains are for the purpose of reflecting on bodily dangers, harboring humility, and becoming the honor of God's grace and heavenly joy, so their virtue is abundant and profound.
For example, just as even beasts, when they become attached to and serve humans, bring benefit, so too when evil desires are well controlled, they become a great means for seeking good.
