其勢八千人秀吉にしたかひ美濃国にむかふ秀吉の戦
つねに利をうしなひ北畠殿と中なをりすあくれは
十三年の三月秀吉内大臣になつて正二位にのほり同

をそめられ子息に本領給らん事相違あるへからすと
かたくちかひたまひけれは長秀此返事をひらき見て

With a force of 8,000 men, he followed Hideyoshi toward Mino Province. Hideyoshi's campaigns consistently suffered setbacks, and he made peace with Kitabatake-dono (Oda Nobukatsu). When dawn broke in the third month of Tenshō 13 (1585), Hideyoshi became naidaijin (Minister of the Interior) and was promoted to the senior second court rank.
