せし国なれは越前の国たまはらんには内府のため
に一方をうちやふつて参らすへきにて候と申され
しかは利長かさねて仰承りぬ越前の国賜らせ

征した国であるから、越前の国を賜るならば、内府（徳川家康）のために一方を打ち破って参上すべきでございます」と申された。そこで利長が重ねて仰せになった。「越前の国を賜ることは内府の御意向にあるでしょうから、利長がかねてより申し上げ難い。彼の家のために戦功をなし給うならば、どうして御望みが叶わないことがあろうか。利長が微力を尽くして執り成し申すことは勿論でございます」とあったので、長重は大いに喜び、「それならば味方に参ろう」として軍評定のため、両家の家臣等が松任に出向いて会った。まず利長の方に人質を差し出すようにとの要望があった。長重の家臣は大いに怒って
