Item: Regarding the petition from Masuemon of Sakaba Village for [permission to open] a new dyeing shop (kōya), [we] were instructed by Jōzaemon-dono to accept and acknowledge [the petition] accordingly. Thereupon, a letter [was sent] from Kyūbei's office ■■.

Item: The petition by Chūemon of ■■-ya to [expand or newly set up] indigo vat(s) — [the instruction] to acknowledge and accept [this petition] accordingly has been settled.

Item: The petition by Genpachi of Kudari-machi to cease [operations of his] dyeing shop — ■■, again, [he] was instructed that [the petition] would be accepted and acknowledged accordingly.

Item: Rokuzaemon Matsuda came and reported. As ■ petitioners have come forward, [he] expressed the wish to proceed with the land survey (kenchi) inspection, and was so ordered. [The relevant materials are] as follows:

Regarding the above, as [I] will be coming out from [my] home district for the duties of the land survey (kenchi), [I] wish to receive [the items listed above] similarly by the 16th day. Respectfully submitted.
