一、五つ時前(いつつどきまえ)、高見村材木検知御用として罷り越し候。久兵衛兵(きゅうべえへい/久兵衛の手勢か)に御中間(おんちゅうげん)壱人。大久保村より中村新六(なかむらしんろく)、高見村宿(やど)に出向き罷り在り候。十八日早朝、渡場へ罷り出で、材木本数(ほんすう)相改め(あらため)相仕廻い(しまい)候て、同十八日八つ時過ぎ(やつどきすぎ)罷り帰り、夫(それ)より御家老中・御年寄中・御用人中■借(かり)相廻り、中沢山材木検知の御用相済み候段、御届け申し上げ候。内御小性(うちおこしょう)用付き■番取も往来ともに届け渡し候。
一、廿四日(にじゅうよっか)に、四百七(しひゃくしち/四百七番か)より中沢へ罷り越し候様、大手形(おおてがた)六通(ろくつう)、寅年(とらどし)申■■、下以(しもい)代(か)証文(しょうもん)ならびに綿来(わたらい)書(しょ)ともに一通、奥■致し、一石方(いっこくかた)にて、尤も添状(そえじょう)、飯嶋(いいじま)海島(かいとう?)へ添状■候。この段、条左衛門(じょうざえもん)殿へ申し上げ候。

Regarding the above, [I] wish to receive [these items] for the purposes of the Nakazawa land survey (kenchi) duties. Respectfully submitted.

17th day
1. Before the fifth hour (approximately 8:00 a.m.), [we] proceeded [to Takami Village] for the timber inspection (kenchi) duties at Takami Village. [We were accompanied by] one attendant (chūgen) assigned to Kyūbei[-hei]. Nakamura Shinroku [had come] from Ōkubo Village and was already in attendance at the lodging in Takami Village. On the morning of the 18th, [we] proceeded to the ferry crossing, inspected and tallied the number of timber [pieces], and upon completing [the inspection], returned [home] past the eighth hour (approximately 2:00 p.m.) on the same 18th day. Thereafter, [we] made the rounds to the Senior Councillors (karō-chū), the Elders (otoshiyori-chū), and the Officials (oyōnin-chū) [submitting reports and borrowing ■], and reported that the duties of the Nakazawa timber inspection had been completed. Documents for the inner page attendant (uchi-okoshō) duties and the ■ watch roster were also delivered, together with the travel passes (ōrai).
2. On the 24th day, [instructions were issued] to proceed from [document] No. 407 to Nakazawa: six large travel passes (ō-tegata), [documents relating to] the Tiger year (Tora-doshi / year of the Tiger)申■■, lower-tier bond documents (shimoi-daishōmon), as well as one copy of the Wataraisho [document], [processed] in the inner [office] ■, at the rate of one koku (ikkoku-kata). Accompanying letters (soejō) [were also prepared]; accompanying letters were ■ [sent/forwarded] to Iijima Kaitō [place/person?]. This matter was reported to Lord Jōzaemon.
