【Right folio】 Item: The wording of the accompanying letter (soejō) for the large official pass (ō-tegata) from Iijima, as follows: I humbly write to you. Now that the weather has grown warmer, I trust that each of you gentlemen continues to be in good health and to carry out your duties with ever-greater diligence — this I sincerely appreciate. In connection with the matter at hand: Matsudaya Rokurōemon has been sent seven timber contract documents (shōmon) for dispatch to Enshū (Tōtōmi Province), and [I] have affixed the endorsement (okugaki) and duly handed them over to the said person. Although I am aware this is a great imposition, I respectfully ask that you arrange for the counter-seal (ura-han) to be completed [on these documents]. I write this so that you may be informed of the situation. 3rd month, 23rd day — Satō Tayū (seal / inban) To: Sakata Banuemon, [sama] Akaba Nojō, [sama] Kaneko Shirohachi, [sama] [and all] assembled [gentlemen] Having received [your communication] by separate document: with respect to the said matter, Matsudaya Rokurōemon [has presented], for the ■■ year's timber dispatched from Ki[-gun] district, one written tally (kakitsuke) of the timber count for yakaku-mawari [square-cut timber], together with six large official passes (ō-tegata), brought in person to each of you this time for submission — accordingly, upon ■ examination (ginmi), the counter-seals (ura-han) were arranged and completed, and [the documents] were duly handed over [to the said person]. Please [handle] ■ as customary. Though [this is] the usual [matter of] some difficulty (roku-kashiku)—— [Page appears to end mid-sentence]
