いたし候えども、未だ効験限りなく、精々滋養を加え罷り在り候ところ、
思いがけず今般議員の当選、実に御受け当惑いたし候。
不肖の身を省みず押して県議場に臨み候とも、
人民の総代として貴重の責任に背き、衆庶の
望みを失い候わば必然の義と深く痛心恐懼いたし候
間、何卒前条陳述の情実御憐察くだされ置き、
格別の思召しをもって県会議員を差し免じられ、静かに療
養いたしたく、この段懇ろに願い奉り候。以上

I have been doing so, but there has been no significant improvement yet. While I have been taking nutritional supplements with great care,
unexpectedly receiving this election as an assemblyman has truly left me perplexed about accepting it.
Even if I were to ignore my inadequate condition and force myself to attend the prefectural assembly,
as a representative of the people, if I were to fail in my precious responsibilities and
disappoint the expectations of the masses, this would be inevitable. I deeply feel pain and fear about this.
Therefore, please take pity on the circumstances I have described above,
and with special consideration, please relieve me of my position as prefectural assemblyman so that I may quietly receive medical
treatment. I humbly and earnestly request this. The above.
