From then on, Yacho the dandy
gradually became deeper [in debauchery], and
neither people's criticism nor his parents' advice
mattered to him. He sold off
all his possessions without exception,
sold his remaining old house and estate, and borrowed palanquin fees, money from the blind, and personal loans
to continue his daily visits as a connoisseur. Theater associations in Shinagawa, Yotsuya, and Fukagawa—
he left no pleasure quarter unvisited,
and was celebrated everywhere as "Yacho, Yacho," to the extent that
his favored courtesan became a bit difficult,
