　燭灯木底四方格上寛下窄白紙糊之而空其上施
　木柄釘柱上雖大風不致滅燭也王宮内所用皆然
　民間灯多不用燭以木作灯四方糊紙高木座篭油
　碟其中置地席上　燭如黄蝋而色黒国中有油樹
　取其子榨油為之

　蕉扇円者為日扇男子用之婦人用者欠其傍如欠
　月状名月扇

　摺畳扇名櫂子扇即倭扇也皆単辺無寛辺者麤細
　不等有絶佳者本国官民冬夏用之横揷大帯間以
　為飾又有折腰扇扇骨両截下合上開僧人所用

現代語訳

灯《割書：燭》

燭灯は木底で四角形、上が広く下が狭く、白紙を貼って中空にし、上部に木の柄を付けて柱に釘で固定する。大風が吹いても燭が消えることがない。王宮内で使用されるものは皆このようになっている。民間の灯は多くの場合燭を用いず、木で四角い灯を作り紙を貼り、高い木座に油皿を籠で囲い、地上の席に置く。燭は黄蝋のようだが色は黒い。国中に油樹があり、その実を取って搾油して作る。

扇

蕉扇で円いものは日扇といい、男子が用いる。婦人が用いるものはその傍を欠いて欠け月の形のようにし、月扇と名付ける。

折り畳み扇は櫂子扇と名付け、すなわち倭扇である。皆単辺で、寛辺のものはない。粗細は一定でなく、極めて優れたものもある。本国の官民は冬夏を問わず用い、大帯の間に横に挿して飾りとする。また折腰扇というものがあり、扇骨が二つに分かれ、下部は合わさり上部は開く。僧人が使用するものである。

Lamps [Margin note: Candles]

Candle lamps have wooden bases that are square-shaped, wider at the top and narrower at the bottom, covered with white paper and hollow inside. A wooden handle is attached to the top and nailed to a pillar. Even in strong winds, the candles do not go out. All those used in the royal palace are made this way. Common people's lamps mostly do not use candles; instead, they make square wooden lamps covered with paper, place oil dishes in baskets on high wooden stands, and set them on floor mats. The candles are like yellow wax but black in color. There are oil trees throughout the country, and oil is extracted from their seeds to make them.

Fans

Round plantain fans are called sun fans and are used by men. Those used by women have one side cut away in a crescent moon shape and are called moon fans.

Folding fans are called櫂子扇 (kaishi-sen), which are Japanese fans. They all have single edges with no wide edges. The thickness varies, and some are extremely fine. Officials and commoners of this country use them in both winter and summer, inserting them horizontally between their wide sashes as decoration. There are also折腰扇 (oroshi-sen), where the fan ribs are divided into two sections - the lower part joins together while the upper part opens. These are used by Buddhist monks.
