現代語訳

船

貢舶（朝貢船）の様式は、おおよそ福州の鳥船のようである。船の両脇に櫓を設置し、左右各二つずつある。船長は八丈余り、幅は二丈五、六尺である。前明の洪武・永楽年間には皆海舟を賜っていたが、後に使臣が自ら工料を備えて福州で改造することを請願した。今では本国の船工も様式通りに自ら造ることができる。各島への往来や通常の運搬に使う船は、大小問わずすべて尖底（尖った底）である。底板は鱗のように重なっている。太平山船は装飾的な欄干を加えているのが特徴なので図示した。小船はすべて独木を刳り抜いて作られており、極めて軽快である。村民や漁戸がすべて使用している。一艘では積載しきれない場合は、二艘を並べて使用する。

Ships

The style of tribute vessels roughly resembles the bird-ships of Fuzhou. Oars are installed on both sides of the ship, two on each side. The ship length is over eight zhang, and the width is two zhang and five to six chi. During the Hongwu and Yongle eras of the former Ming dynasty, sea vessels were all bestowed as gifts, but later envoys petitioned to prepare their own materials and costs for reconstruction in Fuzhou. Now the shipwrights of this country can also construct them according to the proper specifications. The ships used for travel between islands and ordinary transport, regardless of size, all have pointed bottoms. The bottom planks overlap like scales. The Taiping Mountain ships are distinguished by the addition of decorative railings, so they are illustrated. Small boats are all made by hollowing out single logs and are extremely light and swift. All villagers and fishing households use them. When one boat cannot carry the full load, two are used together.
