現代語訳

弓の長さは七尺余り。地に立てると屋根の軒と高さが揃う。矢を中国の矢と比べると、一握りほど短い。射るときは必ず地に立てて構える。的を持つときは正中央ではなく、下の狭い部分に就く。弦を引いて矢を放つ。皆、決拾（ゆがけ）を用いること古制の通りである。射程はそれほど遠くない。旧録に云う、「二百歩の外を射ることは未だ見たことがない」と。

正月　桃の花が咲き誇る《小書：碧桃・絳桃・桜桃がいずれもこの月に開く》　長春花が初めて栄える《小書：四季に咲く。この月が最も盛んである》
蚕豆の新物を食べる　鶯の舌に音色がある　蛇が穴から出る　初めて稲妻がある　雷が
声を発する　枇杷が熟す《小書：中国と異なることはない。形はやや長く棗のようである。元旦に新物を食べ、百果の先駆けとなる》

二月　木筆が空に向かって咲く　海棠が紅色になる　棠棣の花が咲く　春菊が芳香を放つ
《小書：百合・麗春花がいずれもこの月に開く》　月橘の実が紅色になる《小書：月桔は別名十里香。花は六月に開く。実は紅く房々と実り、この月には樹に満ちる》
浮草が初めて生える　田豆を収穫する　蟋蟀が鳴く　蟄竜が海に出る

三月　粟蘭が香る　石竹の花が咲く《小書：玫瑰・薔薇・藤蘿・罌粟がいずれもこの月に開く》　紫蘇が
生える　諸豆をすべて種蒔きする　王瓜が市場に出る　麦がちょうど秋を迎える　虹が初めて見える

英語訳

The length of bows is over seven shaku. When stood on the ground, they reach the height of house eaves. Compared to Chinese arrows, the arrows are shorter by about one grip's length. When shooting, one must stand the bow on the ground. When holding the target, it is not held at the center but rather at the narrow part below. Drawing the bowstring and releasing arrows, all use thumb rings (yugake) according to ancient custom. The range is not very far. An old record states: "Shooting beyond two hundred paces has never been seen."
