【右丁】
天正の頃、
諸国の
名馬が
我劣らじと
一千に及び、
上品下品を問わず皆が
昼間から戦うので、仲間の内の
建物にて名を立てと名付け、
いずれも気性激しく、また柔らか
味もあれば幾人の命も見えず。
【右丁下段】
上手な性質で
太刀打ちは
巧者ゆえ、
芝居
においても
立てを演ずると
いうのはこの
ことである。
【左丁】
敵方は竜王を大将として、もぎより
極めて柔らかな向きのものばかり、先代老いの川上に
戦えども、いずれも勝負も決しないので、小山田が
双方へ和睦を入れ、面々工夫を
表すとはいうものの、必竟同士討ち
なり。柔らか好きでも堅くても行かずと
くるくる和睦の会場を回し、
これよりいずれのタバコにも
小山田に
配剤
させる
約
束
を
固
めた。

In the Tensho era,
famous horses
from various provinces,
not wanting to be outdone,
numbered up to a thousand.
Regardless of high or low quality,
they all fought from daytime, so among the group
in a building they named it "tateto" (establishing reputation),
all having fierce temperaments, yet also having gentle
qualities, so many lives were not visible.
