現代語訳
道成寺の寺僧も門前へ出て、
獅子の行路が溶けて固まったもの
を見て拾い取り、
「幸い、この度鐘を
大きく鋳直そうと
思えば、この金を
吹き入れよう」と、僧
衆に相
談があった。
【僧侶】
この度は
大仏の鐘
などよりも
一際大きく
お作り付けられ
ませ。
【高僧】
なるべく
大きく
言い付け
申そう
よ。
【高僧】
この度の
鐘供養は、
女人は
堅く禁
制とは
言うものの、
良い女ばかりは、そちたちが
了見で
入れてやれ。
参詣の人に
良い女の
いないのは、
こちも
張り合いの
ないものだ。
【僧侶たち】
これは結構な
ご了見で
ございます。いかにも
醜い女ばかりを
禁制になされ
ませ。
いや、いっそのこと
婆さん禁
制の
ことだ。

The temple monks of Dōjōji also came out to the temple gate,
and seeing what had been the lion's path
melted and solidified,
