【本文】
昔、近江の国瀬田の辺りに田原
藤太左衛門という長者があり、藤原の
秀郷の末裔にて竜宮より
先祖秀郷へ内々にて贈りし
玉を所持していた。此の玉は一日に金百両
ずつ生み出す玉にて二十五両一分に
仕掛けて一ヶ月に一両ずつ利息の
増える
玉なる
ゆえ利両の玉とぞ申した。
ここに白川の安珍という山伏
ただ今稀なる美男にてありしが毎
年熊野へ参詣し、今年もまた
熊野へ詣でんと白川を下る。今夜
は田原長者が宿に泊まりけり。
長者の娘お秀で安珍を
見初め、密かに夜更けて安珍が
寝屋に
来たり

【Main Text】
Long ago, in the vicinity of Seta in Omi Province, there lived a
wealthy man named Tawara
Tōta Saemon, who was a descendant of Fujiwara no
Hidesato. From the dragon palace,
his ancestor Hidesato had secretly received
a jewel which he possessed. This jewel produced one hundred ryō of gold
each day, and when invested at twenty-five ryō and one bu,
it would increase by one ryō in interest
per month—
such a jewel it was,
therefore it was called the "Interest-Ryō Jewel."
Here there was a yamabushi (mountain ascetic) named Anchin from Shirakawa,
who was presently a rare handsome man. Every
year he made pilgrimage to Kumano, and this year too
he was going to worship at Kumano, traveling down from Shirakawa. Tonight
he stayed at the inn of Tawara the wealthy man.
The wealthy man's daughter Ohide
fell in love with Anchin at first sight, and secretly late at night came to Anchin's
sleeping quarters,
exchanged vows of love,
and made promises for
two lifetimes.
