現代語訳

法司以下は平日は皆、緑地に印花模様の布傘を用いるが、今見ると各人が皆、花模様の雨傘を使用しており、各々一人が前を歩き、踏鳴金を鳴らす者が一人いる。

　　座褥（座布団）
一品　紅褐色の中心部、青褐色の縁、紅色のフェルトを敷く
二品　青布の中心部、紅布の縁、紅色のフェルトを敷く
三品　青布の表面、紅色のフェルトを敷く
四品・五品　共に藍布の表面、白色のフェルトを敷く
六品以下　座褥は用いず、ただフェルトの条のみを用いる

　　氏族
首里の四大姓は向・翁・毛・馬である。向氏は即ち国王尚姓の別族で、少し遠い血縁関係のため向と称して区別している。故に代々王家とは通婚しない。その本国人で王家と婚姻関係にあるのは翁・毛・馬の三家のみで、代々王舅や法司となっている。今現在法司である者は三人で、馬献図・翁自道・向聖■国丈・毛邦秀である。《割注：今の王尚敬の外祖父で、王妃は馬氏である》世系は皆未詳のため、続いて考証し系譜を作成する予定である。

久米三十六姓は皆、洪武・永楽両朝に賜った閩人（福建人）である。万暦年間中頃に現存していたのは蔡・鄭・梁・金・林の五姓のみ。万暦三十五年に続いて賜ったのは阮・毛の両姓。各姓の子孫は皆あまり繁栄していない。その他に寄籍して立身出世し貴顕となった者も多くいるが、しかしこれらは賜姓の旧家ではない。今、九姓の世譜を閲覧すると、その中の多くが読書して国学を修めている。

Legal officers and below normally all use green cloth umbrellas with printed flower patterns, but now I observe that each person uses flowered rain umbrellas, with one person walking in front of each and one person striking a sounding gong.

　　Clans
The four great surnames of Shuri are Shō, Ō, Mō, and Ma. The Shō clan is a branch family of the royal Shō surname. Being distantly related, they are called Shō to distinguish them, so they do not intermarry with the royal family through the generations. Among the native people who have marriage relations with the royal family, only the three families of Ō, Mō, and Ma serve as royal uncles and legal officers through generations. Currently there are three people serving as legal officers: Ma Kenzu, Ō Jidō, Shō Sei[?]koku-jō, and Mō Hōshū. 《Note: The current king Shō Kei's maternal grandfather, and the queen consort is from the Ma clan》 All genealogies are unclear, so we plan to continue research and compile family records.

The thirty-six surnames of Kume are all Min people (Fujian people) granted during the Hongwu and Yongle reigns. By the middle of the Wanli period, only five surnames remained: Cai, Zheng, Liang, Jin, and Lin. In the thirty-fifth year of Wanli, two more surnames were granted: Ruan and Mao. The descendants of each surname have not flourished greatly. There are many others who gained prominence through adoption into registers, but these are not the old families of granted surnames. Now examining the genealogies of the nine surnames, many among them study and practice national learning.
