## Tayasu Family Estate Garden Map (No. 5) — Waka Poems for Each Scenic Spot **Spring Pond (Haru no Ike)** Even the insects of the spring breeze's domain seem visible— how serenely the mist drifts over the surface of the water. --- **Yamabuki Gate (Yamabuki no Seki)** Even the passing spring, draping itself over the blooming yamabuki flowers, passes through Yamabuki Gate without announcing its name. --- **Shinonome Cove (Shinonome no Ura)** Is it flowers creeping along the pine trees? At Shinonome Cove, horizontal clouds drift, tinged in purple at dawn. --- **Flower Shade (Hana no Kage Nameshi)** Perhaps these crumbling thickets form the path along which spring fades— as fleeting as flowers blooming in the hearts of people. --- **Sakura Abyss (Sakuragafuchi)** Because the wind blows so fiercely, the petals scattered into Sakura Abyss evoke the very image of waves crashing against the rocks. --- **Lower Winding Path (Maki no Shitamichi)** When the mist that was the dwelling of Lady Saho, goddess of spring, clears, the birds' songs drift hazily along the lower winding path. --- **Brocade Island (Nishiki no Shima)** Everyone who sees it laments leaving Brocade Island— yet why do people hide their oars and steal away? --- **Colored Voices Mountain Path (Iro-ne no Yamaji)** As I behold it, the leaves surrendering themselves to the wind— how I wish I could know the figure traveling the mountain path of colored voices. --- **Takaoka Mountain (Takaoka Yama)** The wind blowing through the morning sun on Takaoka Mountain— could it be luring the voices of birds yet unseen? --- **Hayama Gate (Hayama no Seki)** At the gate of Hayama Pass, buried in bamboo leaves, still the sound of snow-broken branches is questioned and found at fault. *(Bamboo Field Path)*
