現代語訳
修善者蒙福（善を修める者は福を蒙る）
雖富勿忘貧（富といえども貧を忘るることなかれ）
善行を積む家には必ず余慶があり、富といえどもその貧しさを忘れず、貧に迫られてもその心志を失わざるは真の善人なり。昔々、漢の高祖の韓信という人はその身卑しかりしが、高祖に用いられて大元帥となり、楚を滅ぼして天下を統一とし、斉の国の王に封ぜられり。韓信、卑しき身なりし時、ことのほか腹が減って、とある民の家に頼り、お婆さんにおむすびをもらいて飢えをしのぎたり。ゆえに韓信、王に封ぜられてより、かのお婆さんを探し出し、多くの報いを取らせけり。
しゃくとり虫動かんとすれば、まず己が身を縮むる。のう、ある鷹は爪を隠すは恥ずべきを外れは恥なし。大功は細金を顧みずとは樊噲が言葉。もべなり、その身貧しくとも貧しきを忘れざるは韓信が友がうなり。なんと子ども衆、おろそかに韓信、また股をくぐりましたか。またもろこしの滑稽はこうこうなれば天、黄金の釜を授け給う。善を作る者、福を蒙らずという事なし。お爺が言うことよく耳に留めましょうぞ。

In families that accumulate good deeds, there will always be surplus blessings. Even when wealthy, not forgetting one's poverty, and even when pressed by poverty, not losing one's aspirations - this is a true virtuous person. Long ago, there was a man named Han Xin who served under Emperor Gaozu of Han. Though his status was humble, he was employed by Gaozu and became a great general, destroyed Chu and unified the realm, and was enfeoffed as King of Qi. When Han Xin was of humble status, he was extremely hungry and relied on a commoner's house, where an old woman gave him rice balls to stave off his hunger. Therefore, after Han Xin was enfeoffed as king, he sought out that old woman and gave her great rewards.
When an inchworm wants to move, it first contracts its body. Indeed, a hawk that hides its talons - there is no shame unless it exceeds what should be shameful. "Great achievements do not concern themselves with small profits" - these are Fan Kuai's words. Indeed, even when one's body is poor, not forgetting poverty is like Han Xin's friendship. What do you think, children? Carelessly, did Han Xin crawl between someone's legs again? When China's comedy becomes like this, Heaven bestows golden cauldrons. There is no case where those who do good do not receive blessings. Listen well to what grandfather says.
