現代語訳
タンカン（蝦夷人の名前）は義経の御用だと言い立て、蝦夷中の昆布・数の子・荒布・さがら布・胡麻目と取り替えて残らず引き上げたところ、総高〆て十二万三千四百五十六億七万八千九百九十九俵あった。半分ならば勘弁するところだが、十分の一を義経の蔵へ納め、残りは手前の蔵へ納めよ。厚い餅に砂糖をつけてお腹へ納めよ、とうまい事を言った。

「引き上げられた俺たちの昆布・数の子もこの中にあるだろうなあ。」
「そこだぞ、ヘンヘンとこヘン（蝦夷語の嘆きの声）。」
車引きの屋の寅屋敷は汚いなあ。
昔ならば鯛の味噌漬けに四方の赤（酒）一杯飲み、欠け山という場所だった。
英語訳
Tankan (an Ezo person's name) claimed it was for Yoshitsune's official use and exchanged and collected all the kelp, herring roe, seaweed, sagara seaweed, and small dried sardines from throughout Ezo. The total amount came to 1,234,567,899 bales. While half would be tolerable, he said to deliver one-tenth to Yoshitsune's storehouse and the rest to his own storehouse. "Put sugar on thick rice cakes and store them in your belly" - what a clever thing to say!
