　今度増屋吉右衛門ヲ以治郎左衛門方へ運合頼入候所伊右衛門方

恐れ多くも申し上げます。

去る辰年にご裁許をいただき、誠にありがたく存じておりますが、どうしても和談がまとまらず、いろいろとご面倒をおかけして恐縮に存じますが、どうしても酒造株の件で安心できませんので、安心したく存じます。何卒お慈悲をもって、伊右衛門、理兵衛両名に酒造の鑑札をお渡しくださいますようお願い申し上げます。

一、別家の治郎左衛門のところで、酒造業その他の庄屋に関する内外の勘定があるため、度々同人のところへ勘定の話し合いに参りましたが、一向に勘定がまとまりません。そのため今度、増屋吉右衛門を通じて治郎左衛門方へ交渉を依頼したところ、伊右衛門方の勘定その他詳細な件は松次郎に依頼してあるので、松次郎からお聞き取りください、と申されました。そこで改めて吉右衛門を頼んで松次郎方へ掛け合いに行ったところ、そのようなことは一切知らないと断られました。そうであるなら、私としては取り付く島もございません。何卒お慈悲をもって、治郎左衛門へ別紙の通りご理解くださいますようお願い申し上げます。

Humbly submitted,

Regarding the judgment granted in the previous Year of the Dragon, for which we are most grateful, we have been unable to reach an amicable settlement despite various efforts, causing much trouble, and we deeply regret this. However, as we cannot feel at ease regarding the sake brewing license, we wish to obtain peace of mind. We humbly request that, in your mercy, you grant brewing licenses to both Iemon and Riheē.

First, regarding the sake brewing business and other financial accounts both internal and external related to the village headman's affairs at the branch family member Jirōzaemon's place: We have repeatedly visited him to discuss these accounts, but no settlement has been reached at all. Therefore, we recently requested Masuya Kichirōemon to negotiate with Jirōzaemon's side. However, they said that the accounts of Iemon's side and other detailed matters had been entrusted to Matsujirō, and that you should inquire with Matsujirō. When we again asked Kichirōemon to negotiate with Matsujirō, he refused, saying he knew nothing of such matters. Under these circumstances, we have no recourse for consultation. We humbly request that, in your mercy, you help Jirōzaemon understand as stated in the attached document.
