奉存候升形東ニ 御上様より丁内江御預り
之空地御座候間右之場所江小祠を建

現代語訳
恐れながら
町内北側にございます井戸を当月十六日に井戸替えいたしましたところ、
素焼きの小壺が井戸底にございまして、その中に恵比寿・
大黒天の二神がございました。商いの祖である福神でございますので、
町内繁栄の基礎として一同喜んでおり、何卒勧請いたしたく
存じます。升形東に お上様より町内へお預かりの
空地がございますので、右の場所へ小祠を建て
勧請いたしたく存じます。ついてはお願い申し上げます。

二十二日に御役所にて高橋氏のお取り次ぎで差し上げましたところ、二十四日に
近藤氏からお聞き済みにならず、願書の品物もお下げに
なりました。品物は町代のもとへ引き上げておくようにとのお沙汰により、すぐに
二十五日朝、町代新右衛門を呼んで申し渡しました。

Humbly submitted
When we replaced the well located on the north side of our district on the 16th of this month,
we found a small unglazed ceramic jar at the bottom of the well, and inside it were
the two deities Ebisu and Daikokuten. As these are fortune deities who are the ancestors of commerce,
we are all rejoicing that they form the foundation for our district's prosperity, and we earnestly wish
to invite them for worship. To the east of Masugata, there is
vacant land entrusted to our district by the authorities,
so we wish to build a small shrine at that location and
invite the deities for worship. Therefore, we humbly submit this petition.

When this was submitted on the 22nd at the government office through Mr. Takahashi's intermediation, on the 24th
Mr. Kondō informed us that approval was not granted, and the items mentioned in the petition were also returned.
By official order, the items were to be retrieved and kept with the district representative, so immediately
on the morning of the 25th, we summoned district representative Shinemon and conveyed this instruction.
