一、私が住んでおります地続きで所持している屋敷に、現在山住屋平治が住宅として住んでおります。この屋敷につきまして、私の祖父忠左衛門が文政十三年寅年中に、本町の和泉屋真太郎が所持していた家屋敷を同人より譲り受け、木綿屋弥兵衛と申す者に貸しておりました。右の弥兵衛は私の祖父忠左衛門の甥でございます。祖父には実子がおりませんでしたので、一子同様に思い、地代も取らず定めないで差し置いておりましたところ、右の弥兵衛が天保九年戌年中に病死いたしました。その後、同人の後家並びに子供三人、親子四人の者を引き受け、養父忠左衛門が世話をして参りました間に、右の後家の娘に火山村より茂吉と申す者を養子に もらい受け、弥兵衛の相続をさせましたところ、安政六年未年中に右の後家も

First, regarding a property I own adjacent to where I reside, where Yamazumiya Heiji currently resides as his dwelling. Concerning this property, my grandfather Chūzaemon acquired the house and property that was owned by Izumiya Shintarō of Honmachi during the Tora year of Bunsei 13 (1830), and rented it to a person called Wataya Yahei. This Yahei was the nephew of my grandfather Chūzaemon. Since my grandfather had no biological children, he thought of him as his own son and allowed him to stay without charging rent or setting any terms. However, this Yahei died of illness during the Inu year of Tenpō 9 (1838). After that, the deceased man's widow and three children, four people in total, were taken in and cared for by my adoptive father Chūzaemon. During this time, a man named Mokichi from Hiyama village was adopted as a son-in-law to the widow's daughter and made to succeed the Yahei family line. However, during the Hitsuji year of Ansei 6 (1859), this widow also
passed away. Subsequently, about ten years ago, this Mokichi abandoned the family name of Wataya Yahei and succeeded to the extinct family line of Yamazumiya Heiji in the same town, changing his name to Yamazumiya Heiji. As a result, there were no longer any relatives of Wataya Yahei, so it became difficult to continue lending my property without rent. I consulted about this matter with my adoptive father Chūzaemon while he was still alive.
