恐れながら申し上げます。
岩村田藩の管轄地である下宿の大工庄助の保証を受けて、
他所での職業に従事することをお願い申し上げておりましたところ、去る己年十二月に帰宿いたしましたので、
御鑑札をお返し申し上げたく存じます。つきましては、お願い申し上げます。
右の件につきまして 梅町

三月二十二日にお聞き届けいただき、来〈■■〉御普請方へ印形を持参するよう申し渡されました。

私の組合の道具屋又三郎は、日頃の行いが良くなく、一旦家出をいたしましたので、
捜索中であるとお申し付けいただいておりましたところ、この度家族共々残らず逃亡いたしました。
この上、逃亡先でどのような問題を起こすか分からないと存じます。
つきましては、御宗門除帳にしていただけますようお願い申し上げます。
右の件につきまして 組合和泉屋

三月十日に提出いたしましたところ、御一新により除帳の件は認められない旨をお聞かせいただき、三十日の捜索を申し付けられ、願書は返却となり、丁代甚右衛門に申し渡されました。

Humbly respectfully submitted:
Having requested permission to work elsewhere under the guarantee of carpenter Shōsuke from Shimojuku in the territory under Iwamura-da Domain's jurisdiction, I returned to my lodging in the twelfth month of the previous Tsuchinoto-i year (1869), and would like to return my identification permit. Therefore, I humbly request this.

Regarding toolmaker Matasaburō from my group, who has been of poor conduct and once ran away from home, for which you ordered a search while he was missing, he has now fled together with his entire family without exception.
From now on, we cannot predict what kind of troubles he might cause at his destination.
Therefore, we humbly request that he be removed from the religious registration records.
