恐れながら申し上げます
板山村の作右衛門の息子定三郎という者を私の弟子として四年の年季で
大工の仕事を見習いのため当午年より水道工事の仕事に就かせたいと思っております。よって

I would like to take as my disciple a person named Teisaburō, son of Sakuemon from Itayama village, for a four-year term
to have him learn carpentry work and engage in water works for the government from this year of the Horse. Therefore,
I humbly request that a license certificate be issued to him.
