一、昨日、条左衛門殿より仰せ付けられ候、非持の木簗（きやな）川の見分について、久兵衛が出向き候えば、総じて入口（水の入り方・立地）が宜しくなく、その段を条左衛門殿へ申し上げ候様（申し上げたところ）、さようならば御用意（計画）を申し上げたく存じ候が、相止め（取りやめ）になるべき由、仰せ聞かせられ候。
一、外に簗川（やながわ）のあてがなきにつき、弁才天川原（べんざいてんかわら）の御薪川（おまきかわ）を見申す儀を申し置き候様（にせよとのこと）、則ち久兵衛を差し越し見させ候ところ、この度（今回）その方にて形助の御薪川さらいが有之（ある）、御築川（御堰川）に宜しかるべき御座候様（適当であるようで）、人数六、七十人にて簗（やな）を打ち立て、一日（ひとつの場所・一仕事）にて相済み申すべき様、見分致し罷り越し候。その段、即刻条左衛門殿へ申し上げ候。先段（先ほどの件）聞き取り置き候。

3rd Day
Item: Today, Matsudaya Rokushichizaemon presented two small promissory notes (ko-tegata) for sealing. I duly affixed my seal and returned them.
Item: Regarding the on-site inspection of the timber weir (ki-yana) on the river at Himochi, as ordered yesterday by Lord Jōzaemon — Kyūbei went to inspect, and found that the entry point (i.e., the inlet or approach to the weir site) was generally unsuitable. This was duly reported to Lord Jōzaemon, who responded that, while he had intended to proceed with the plan, it should be cancelled.
Item: As there was no other suitable weir river available, it was suggested that the Benten Kawara (Benzaiten Riverbank) timber-and-fuel river (o-maki-kawa) be inspected. Kyūbei was accordingly dispatched to examine the site. Upon inspection, it was found that at this location, a channel-clearing (sarai) of the Katanosuke fuel-wood river was currently underway, and it appeared that the irrigation/dam channel (o-tsuki-kawa) could be suitable. It was assessed that a weir could be erected and the work completed with a workforce of sixty to seventy persons in a single operation. Kyūbei returned from the inspection and this finding was immediately reported to Lord Jōzaemon. The matter from the previous report was also duly noted and recorded.
