すなわち条左衛門殿へ（書面を）差し出し、御用を済ませ、久た（久太郎？）友左衛門殿へ上納し、帰った。また太右衛門殿が仰せられるには、差し控えの伺いを申すべき事は他にないか（と）承り合わせ候趣（ところ）、帳面の書き直しの通り御勘定に相違なく候につき、その義については御伺いに及び申すまじく候、と申され候。同役の両人（が）善八殿へ右の段を申し達し（たところ）、善八殿（と）友左衛門殿が（こちらへ）おいでになり、右の趣（おもむき）は相済み申し候。ところが久た（・）条左衛門より手紙にて、私ども両人は差し控えの上伺いを申すべき旨の申し出があった。直ちに善八殿（が）「久た（と）私ども両人（は）差し控えの上伺い候よう」と申し達し（られ）候。しからば、まず明朝まで御免を預かり、明朝（に）申し上げ候（と）仰せ致され、■左衛門より差し控えの上伺い（を）いたし候。

一 今日の御用として、久左衛門（が）、今年の松茸（の）御用について筆宿（ひつしゅく・書き役の宿）を相勤め候（こと）、久左衛門殿（より）申し上げ候。以上。
一 御簗（の）上（かみ）の町人共が簗（を）打ちたき旨申し出（た）よう、久兵衛（より）申し■につき、（当方より）相伺い申し候ところ、無用（に）致し候よう（に）と仰せ付けられ、その段（を）久兵衛へ聞かせる（申し伝えた）。
一 二十日（の）御用に、簗改（やなあらため）に罷り越し候節、私ども（が）遠方（へ）は行き掛かり次第、一宿（ひとやど）（する）■（の）義（は）、いずれの頃（に）願いが相済み候（か）■、承知候よう（に）と、条左衛門殿（より）仰せ付けられ候。これにより、久兵衛（が）数右衛門殿方へ（聞きに行き）、承知（したところ）、新兵衛殿（の）■右衛門（から）の義（によれば）と（のこと）申され候（由）。いずれゆえ（か、その）用意の通り（に）相記し申さず候よう（であると）申し上げ候。相■申し候段（は）申し上げ（て）相済み候。

[The document] was accordingly submitted to Jōzaemon-dono, the official matter was completed, and it was paid over to Kyūta (Kyūtarō?)/Tomozaemon-dono, after which [the party] returned. Furthermore, Taemon-dono stated: upon inquiry as to whether there was any other matter requiring a formal petition of restraint (sashihikae-ukagai), [it was found that] the corrected account ledger showed no discrepancy, and therefore [he stated that] there would be no need to submit a petition regarding that matter. Two colleagues of the same rank (dōyaku) conveyed this to Zenbachi-dono, whereupon Zenbachi-dono and Tomozaemon-dono came [to us], and the said matter was thus resolved. However, thereafter a letter arrived from Kyūta and Jōzaemon to the effect that the two of us [the writer and a colleague] should hold ourselves in restraint (sashihikae) and file a petition. Zenbachi-dono promptly relayed [the instruction]: "Kyūta and the two of us are to hold ourselves in restraint and file a petition." Thereupon [it was stated] that a pardon would be granted until the following morning; [the matter] would be reported the next morning — and accordingly a petition while in restraint was duly filed by ■zaemon.
25th Day
Item: Regarding today's official business — Kyūzaemon reported that, concerning this year's matsutake (mushroom) [procurement duty], Kyūzaemon-dono will be serving as fude-yado (the lodging/post for record-keeping duties). As stated above.
Item: Regarding a report by Kyūbee to the effect that townspeople upstream of the official weir (o-yana) had submitted a request [to the authorities] wishing to install their own fish weir — upon our inquiry [to the authorities regarding this], we were instructed that it should not be permitted (muyō). This was duly communicated to Kyūbee.
Item: Regarding the occasion on the 20th day when [officials] went out on official duty to inspect the fish weirs (yana-aratame) — as to the matter of our [party] lodging for one night wherever [we] happen to stop along the way to distant locations — [the question of] from what period this arrangement had been approved ■ — Jōzaemon-dono instructed [us] to ascertain [this] and report back. Accordingly, Kyūbee went to inquire at Kazuemon-dono's place, and it was learned [the matter came] from Shinbee-dono's ■emon. It was reported that for whatever reason, [the matter] had not been recorded in the register as prepared. This matter was reported and resolved.
