一 御城へ今日、諸士中（しょしちゅう）が例の通り罷り出で候ところ、この御時節（おんときせつ）（につき）殿（との）への御礼（は）申し上げるには及ばない旨、仰せ出され候趣（おもむき）を、平次右衛門殿が御申し聞かされ候。

Item: Today, all the retainers (shoshi-jū) went to the castle as per custom [to offer their seasonal greetings]; however, Heijiemon-dono informed [us] that an order had been issued to the effect that [formal] greetings to the lord (tono) were not necessary on this occasion [given the particular season/circumstances].
