罷越右田所下作致度無心有之弘化二巳年ゟ申年迄

現代語訳
出向いて右の田所で小作をしたいとの申し出があり、弘化二巳年から申年まで四年間小作をさせたところ、年々小作年貢米を内金として受け取るのみで、不足米が多分に嵩んだため、小作を断り、酉年からは他へ小作に出した。右の年貢米が納入されない分について数度催促したが、あれこれ申し立てて一切勘定してくれず、迷惑極まりない。右のような次第を等閑に放置していたが、これまで勘弁をもって延ばし置いた。右の証文面の通りであれば、右の田畑・寄進地とも返却する義理は全くない。
譲受証文二通の写しならびに小作米滞納勘定を記して差し上げるので、何卒御賢察くださり、この件について恐れながら先方へ御理解いただけるよう、ひとえに願い上げる。なお、この上お尋ねの義については、恐れながら口頭にて申し上げる。
右の趣旨について御慈悲をもって願い上げる通り仰せ付けくださるならば、ありがたい仕合わせと存ずる。以上 本町

He came forward expressing a desire to sharecrop the aforementioned rice field. From Koka 2 (year of the snake) to the year of the monkey, he worked as a sharecropper for four years. Each year, he only received the sharecropping tribute rice as advance payment, and the shortfall in rice accumulated considerably. Therefore, we discontinued the sharecropping arrangement, and from the year of the rooster onward, we let others sharecrop the land. Regarding the unpaid tribute rice, we made repeated demands, but he made various excuses and refused to settle accounts at all, causing us extreme trouble. Although we had neglected such matters, we had postponed action with forbearance until now. According to the aforementioned certificate documents, there is absolutely no obligation to return the rice fields, dry fields, or donated land.
We are submitting copies of the two transfer certificates along with the account of overdue sharecropping rice. We humbly request your wise consideration and ask that you help the other party understand this matter. Furthermore, should there be additional inquiries, we will humbly respond orally.
