豊臣太閤が小田原を十重二十重に囲んで攻められた時に、

誰の陣、これは誰々の営とて、政宗に指し示させたうち、少しも後ろを顧みず。その時後ろに控えた政宗の頭の上へ、磐石を戴いたかのように感じて、敢えて仰ぎ見ることができなかった。さすがの政宗も肝を潰されたという。この光が人を圧するのは、これは天から与えられた徳でありながら、全く浩然の気の覆うところの働きがあることを見るに足ることで、豊公の身体に自然とこの大いなる光を備えていることより、下賤より出て、天下の権を掌中に握った大器量を察すべきである。
