一 錫（すゝ）子の酌（しやく）の事 錫（すゝ）のそこを両（りやう）の手（て）にてかゝへてつくべし

㊈ 普通の盃で酒を飲む作法のこと
左の膝を敷き、右の膝を重ねて左へ寄りかかり、左の手をつき、右の手で盃を取って外向きに頂いて、少しうつむいて飲みなさるべきです。肴は手に受けて、懐紙を折りながら取り、その中へ入れ、脇に置き、立つ時に持って立つべきです。自分が飲んだ盃を台の上へ載せてはいけません。台の右の脇、畳の上に置きなさるべきです。酌人が取って台の上に載せ、先へ持って行くのです。酒を強いなさるにも、そばにいる女郎衆に向かって「お参り候ように」とおっしゃるべきです。女中や客の気心が知れている場合は、直接おっしゃってもよいです。肴を挟みなさるには、何でも手の汚れない物を少しばかり挟み、箸を向こうの方へ直しておくべきです。自分の方へ直しておいてはいけません。

㊈ On the proper way to drink sake with ordinary cups
Place the left knee down, cross the right knee over it, lean to the left, place the left hand down for support, take the cup with the right hand, hold it facing outward, bow the head slightly, and drink. For side dishes, receive them in your hand, fold paper napkins while taking them, put them inside, place them to the side, and carry them when you stand up. Do not place the cup you have drunk from on the stand. You should place it on the tatami to the right side of the stand. The sake server will take it and place it on the stand to carry it forward. When pressing sake on others, you should turn to the ladies nearby and say "Please partake." For lady attendants or familiar guests, you may speak to them directly. When taking side dishes with chopsticks, take just a little of anything that won't dirty your hands, and place the chopsticks pointing away from you. You must not place them pointing toward yourself.
