現代語訳
鳩を捕るには、糸の先へ白豆を一粒しっかりと結び付け、その豆に「はず」という物を塗って置くと、鳩がその豆を食うと直ちに腹を下し、たちまち糞に排り出す。その豆を又他の鳩が食って糞にすると、だんだんに外の鳩が食っては垂れ、食っては垂れ、まったく数珠繋ぎにして捕ります。
鳩の数は何でも糸の長さ次第。
ただし、十匹目ごとに「はず」を塗り足してよし。
英語訳
To catch pigeons, tie one white bean firmly to the end of a string, coat that bean with something called "hazu," and when a pigeon eats that bean, it immediately gets diarrhea and quickly excretes it in its droppings. When another pigeon eats that bean and excretes it, gradually other pigeons eat it and defecate, eat it and defecate, creating exactly like a string of prayer beads, and you can catch them.
