　葉のあるものを花《振り仮名：のみ｜而已》も忌め
○花の時節（じせつ）葉のなき物は格別（かくべつ）ぞ

　枝葉を長く出すべからず
○時ならぬ花は忌めども伝ありて
　かえり花をは用ゆべきなり
○花も葉も水にひたるは嫌ふべし
　蓮（はす）河骨（かうほね）はきらはぬも伝
○虫瘡（むしくひ）葉 枯（かれ）葉折れ葉は忌事よ
　はさみたる葉もきらふべき也
○二花二 枝（え）四本六本嫌ふべし
　束練（むすびからげ）て生（いく）るをも忌め
○花の輪（りん）釘（くぎ）かくしなど見るごとく
　正面へむくことをきらはん

葉のあるものを花のみも忌め
○花の時節に葉のない物は格別である
　（夏水仙、本名は金灯草、葉は正月に出て四月に枯れ、花は六七月に咲く）や　　　（曼珠沙華、葉は九月に出て翌四月に枯れ、花は秋彼岸に咲く）など
○その席の飾り道具のある方へ
　枝葉を長く出すべからず
○時季外れの花は忌むけれども伝承があって
　返り花を使うべきである
○花も葉も水に浸るのは嫌うべきである
　蓮や河骨は嫌わないのも伝承
○虫食い葉、枯れ葉、折れ葉は忌むべきことよ
　鋏で切った葉も嫌うべきである
○二花二枝、四本六本は嫌うべしである
　束ねて縛って生けるのも忌め
○花の輪や釘隠しなど見るように
　正面へ向くことを嫌おう
○花と茎を並べて生ける両方へ
　同じ色をも使うべからず
○同じ色の間へ他の色を加えるな
　香の悪いものを忌め、名の知れないものを忌め

英語訳

Do not use only flowers when leaves are available
○Plants that have no leaves during flowering season are exceptional
　(Summer narcissus, true name kintouka/golden lamp grass, leaves emerge in New Year and wither in April, flowers bloom in June-July) and　　　(Lycoris radiata/red spider lily, leaves emerge in September and wither the following April, flowers bloom during autumn equinox) etc.
○Toward the side where decorative implements of the room are placed
　Do not extend branches and leaves too long
○Though out-of-season flowers are taboo, there is tradition that
　Return flowers (kaeri-bana) should be used
○Both flowers and leaves submerged in water should be avoided
　That lotus and yellow pond lily are not avoided is also tradition
