小山郡太夫藁科勘左衛門等師
範タルモ軍書ノ講義等モナク名ノミ

一儒者 毎月（廿五日）一回城中大広間ニ於テ経
書又ハ軍学書ノ講義ヲ為シ一藩
諸士以上ノモノヲシテ之ヲ聴聞セシム
平素儒員自宅ニ於テ朝六ツ時ヨリ
五ツ時迄八歳ヨリ十五歳ニ至ル藩士
ノ子弟ニ素読ヲ授ケ又家塾ニ学

軍を進退することを教える。
小山郡太夫・藁科勘左衛門等が師範であったが、軍書の講義等もなく名のみで実がなかった。
一儒者 毎月（二十五日）一回城中大広間において経書または軍学書の講義を行い、一藩の諸士以上の者にこれを聴聞させる。
平素は儒員が自宅において朝六つ時より五つ時まで、八歳より十五歳に至る藩士の子弟に素読を授け、また家塾に学生を養成する。
一側役 平素主君の左右に侍し、用弁を達する。
一番方 高の順席により平素城中広間に当直し、御朱印その他大切なる器物を守護する。戦地においては君側馬廻に随行し、兼ねて本陣守備の任に当たる。
家老より番方に至るを給人と言い、別格の扱いに及ぶ。総て永世禄にして数代を累ねるに至る。養子縁組等は必ず同族中より行う。養子であれば必ず槍一筋、嫁であれば必ず薙刀一振を持参する。

They taught the advancement and retreat of armies.
Koyama Gundayu, Warashina Kanzaemon and others served as instructors, but there were no lectures on military texts, existing in name only without substance.
One Confucian Scholar: Once a month (on the 25th), gives lectures on classical texts or military studies in the large hall of the castle, having all retainers of the domain of samurai rank and above listen.
Ordinarily, the Confucian officials teach basic reading from the 6th hour of morning until the 5th hour to children of domain retainers aged 8 to 15 at their own homes, and also train students at private academies.
One Attendant: Usually serves at the lord's side and conveys his business affairs.
One Guard Duty: According to rank order based on stipend, they normally stand guard in the castle's great hall and protect the official seal and other precious items. In wartime, they accompany the lord's mounted guards and also undertake the duty of defending headquarters.
From house elders down to guard duty personnel are called "stipend recipients" and receive special treatment. All hold hereditary stipends that accumulate over several generations. Adoptions and marriages must be made within the same clan. Adopted sons must bring one spear, and brides must bring one naginata.
