（四）隔年に領地に住居する、これを在城という。その時妻
女を携帯することを得ず。すべて戦国の習いで、
妻子を江戸邸に置き、これを人質とする。故に当
時道路の要所々々に関門を設け、厳重な備えをなせ
り。女子の入り易くして出づるに難かりしは、これを以
てなり。
