【Right Page】 Understanding deeply that this was for the Imperial Court's use, we arranged monthly funds. However, in the tenth month of the previous year of the Sheep, through financial arrangements, two-thirds of the monetary amount was given as returned rice, and for the remaining one-third, we received and kept a certificate stating that both principal and interest would be returned through collection in the previous year of the Monkey. Then, in the sixth month of the year of the Monkey, the officials of the former Takatō Prefecture announced that since the abolition of the prefecture had been decreed, the certificate for rice returned through collection in the year of the Water-Monkey would be cancelled, and we were ordered to submit a receipt, which we then 【Left Page】 submitted. At that time, we were told that since this originally concerned money before collection, even if returned rice could not be provided through collection, there should be an official announcement about exchange with money, and we were firmly instructed to understand that there was no reason for particular hardship. However, since then there has been no official announcement at all, so we were all worried and submitted a petition in writing to the Takatō Control Office. We were graciously informed that this document would be forwarded to the main prefecture, and we gratefully went to wait upon the magistrate's office.
