【Lantern (continued)】 (Mica is)flexible and unlike glass, it does not shatter even when struck by objects. The topmost layer is left open to allow heat to escape. Inside the lamp, an iron cylinder is constructed to prevent the candle from tilting. The cylinder's base legs are nailed to the bottom of the lantern. Inside the cylinder, iron wire is coiled to support the base of the candle. As the candle burns down and becomes lighter, the wire spring pushes it upward. The candle flame thus always protrudes from the mouth of the cylinder. The dripping wax all falls onto the base platform. [Note: There is a door that can be opened and closed; the diagram is omitted here.] ○ "Lanteern" (Lantern) Coiled iron wire Height of the lamp tip varies: one shaku Iron cylinder or two shaku This top layer has no Wax drippings fall here mica fitted --- 【Western Hearth/Fireplace】 The Western hearth is placed against the corner of a room and is built up with "Kalipsteen" stone. The front is open and has no door. A large iron pillar (support beam) runs from its base through the flue and across the boundary of the hearth, supporting the weight of the chimney. From this iron pillar, hooks are suspended, from which pots, kettles, and other cooking vessels are hung. ○ "Mistschienhaan" Stone Hearth Height: 4 shaku 3 shaku Iron hook 6 (shaku) Smoke flue protrudes Iron pillar crosses horizontally 2 shaku
