七月、僧勝道が初めて下野国の二荒山を開いた。日光山がこれである。
二年十月、大学助教の膳臣大丘が奏聞したのは、「大唐の天子は孔子を尊んで文宣王と諡している。それならば日本でも、その例に倣って文宣王と申し上げたい」と請うた。すると勅許された。
十一月、初めて春日神社を大和国三笠山に建て、武雷命、天児屋根命、斎主命、姫大神を祭った。

In the seventh month, the monk Shōdō first opened Mount Futaara in Shimotsuke Province. This is Mount Nikkō.
In the tenth month of the second year, Kashiwade no Omi Ōoka, Assistant Professor of the Imperial University, made a memorial stating: "The Emperor of Great Tang honors Confucius with the posthumous title of King Bunsen (Wénxuān). Therefore, in Japan as well, following that example, we request to address him as King Bunsen." This was then granted imperial permission.
In the eleventh month, Kasuga Shrine was first established on Mount Mikasa in Yamato Province, enshrining Takeikazuchi no Mikoto, Ame no Koyane no Mikoto, Iwahinushi no Mikoto, and Hime-Ōkami.
