天奇日方命を以て、申食国政大夫とした。この官は、後世の大臣の職にあたる。天皇があるとき、高い丘に登って、この国の形がトンボ（蜻蛉、アキツムシ、カゲロウ）に似ているのを見て、初めて秋津洲と名付けられた。蜻蛉は、カゲロウという虫である。天皇は在位七十六年で崩御された。御年百二十七歳。この御代の元年は、異朝（中国）では周の恵王の十七年に当たる。

綏靖天皇 神武の太子である。御母を蹈鞴五十鈴媛といい、大己貴神の孫、事代主神の娘である。綏靖の異母兄を手研耳命という。年既に長けて、神武の時より政治に参与していたので、世を奪う志があった。これによって、神武崩御以後二年の間、綏靖は位に即くことができなかった。その
