Thirty koku of salt was put into it, making it resemble the salt fields of Shiogama in Mutsu Province. He also kept fish, birds, and insects, and planted grasses and flowers in such abundance that they were beyond counting. He was called the Kawara Left Minister. In the tenth month, Minister Sugawara was appointed to the position of Middle Counselor.
In the eighth year, on the sixth day of the first month, there was an imperial visit to Unrin-in Temple, where the Ne-no-hi festivities took place. Imperial princes and court nobles attended. In the seventh month, Fujiwara no Yoshiyo became Left Minister, and Minamoto no Yoshiari became Right Minister. In the ninth month, it was revealed that Empress Nijō (Empress of Emperor Seiwa, mother of Emperor Yōzei) had been having an illicit affair with the monk Zen'yū of Tōkō-ji Temple.
