現代語訳
〔前頁より続き〕安城を見下ろして、互いに謀反の事を相約し、「本意を遂げたならば、将門は王孫であるから帝王となるべし、純友は藤原氏であるから関白となるべし」と言い合ったとのことである。承平年中より、将門は関東へ赴き、純友は伊予にあって、少々蜂起していたが、今年（天慶三年）その約を違えず、東西に一度に起ち上がり、天下は騒動となり、洛中も静かではなくなった。
この時、源経基が武蔵に居られたが、急ぎ上洛し、将門の謀反のことを言上した。その早く注進したことによって、位を授けられた。経基は貞純の子である。貞純は清和天皇第六の皇子であるゆえ、経基を六孫王と号した。初めて源の姓を賜った。多田満中は経基の子である。
〔天慶〕三年正月、将門・純友降伏のために、諸寺・諸社へ祈念せられた。二月、参議・右衛門督・藤原忠文を征夷大将軍〔に任じた〕。

[Continued from the previous page] ...looking down upon Anshiro Castle, they mutually swore to one another regarding their treasonous intentions: "Once our true aims are achieved, Masakado, being of royal descent, shall become sovereign, and Sumitomo, being of the Fujiwara clan, shall become regent (Kanpaku)." So it was said. From the Jōhei era onward, Masakado had gone to the Kantō region, while Sumitomo was in Iyo, and both had been staging minor uprisings. In this year (Tengyō 3, 940), without breaking their pact, they rose simultaneously in east and west, throwing the realm into turmoil and leaving the capital in a state of unrest.
At this time, Minamoto no Tsunemoto was residing in Musashi Province, but he quickly went up to the capital and reported Masakado's treasonous plot to the throne. Because he submitted this report so swiftly, he was awarded a promotion in rank. Tsunemoto was the son of Sadazumi. Since Sadazumi was the sixth imperial prince of Emperor Seiwa, Tsunemoto was styled "Rokusonnō" (Prince of the Sixth Descendant). He was the first to be granted the surname Minamoto (Genji). Tada no Mitsunaka was the son of Tsunemoto.
