八年六月十三日、天皇が病気のため、位を東宮居貞親王に譲り、二十二日に崩御された。享年三十二歳。年号は永延二年、永祚一年、正暦五年、長徳四年、長保五年、寛弘八年で、在位は合わせて二十五年であった。
第六十七代
三条院 冷泉院の第二皇子。諱は居貞。母は皇太后藤原超子という。摂政兼家の娘である。一条天皇即位の時、居貞を東宮とした。寛弘八年六月、譲位を受けて即位。享年三十六歳。道長が朝政を執ることは前の通りであった。十月、冷泉太上天皇が崩御された。享年六十二歳。

In the seventh year, first month, Korechika died at the age of thirty-seven.
In the eighth year, sixth month, thirteenth day, due to the Emperor's illness, he abdicated the throne to Crown Prince Suesada, and died on the twenty-second day at the age of thirty-two. The era names were Eien for two years, Eiso for one year, Shōryaku for five years, Chōtoku for four years, Chōhō for five years, and Kankō for eight years, with a total reign of twenty-five years.
Sixty-seventh Emperor
Emperor Sanjō Second son of Emperor Reizei. His personal name was Suesada. His mother was Empress Dowager Fujiwara no Chōshi, daughter of Regent Kanemie. When Emperor Ichijō ascended the throne, Suesada was made Crown Prince. In the eighth year of Kankō, sixth month, he received the abdication and ascended the throne at the age of thirty-six. Michinaga continued to control government affairs as before. Tenth month, Retired Emperor Reizei died at the age of sixty-two.
