In the ninth month, Michinaga made a pilgrimage to Iwashimizu. Court nobles and below accompanied him, and entertainers came out to greet them. When crossing the Yodo River, there were over fifty boats. One of them capsized, and over thirty people died. In the twelfth month, Michinaga was appointed Chancellor (Daijō-daijin). Regent Yorimichi served as imperial messenger.
In the second year, on the third day of the first month, the Emperor came of age. Michinaga performed the capping ceremony, and Yorimichi performed the hair-cutting. In the third month, Michinaga's daughter Ishi entered the palace and became Imperial Consort (Nyōgo). She later became Empress (Chūgū).
